Report

Two goals from Findlay Cassels and further strikes from George Clifton and Jack Symmonds were not quite enough as the Hornets were squeezed out at Kiddermister Park.

But despite their goal-grabbing heroics, the home side claimed the points thanks to two strikes from Badri Sugule, backed up by Yousaf Javed, Ali Abase and Ilir Baleci.

The latest clash between the evenly-matched teams began with a flurry of activity, with Sam Lloyd twice clearing off the line and Cassels coming close with two early efforts.

It was third time lucky for Cassels soon after, as he cleverly blocked a goalkick with his head and then calmly rifled the ball home.

Central immediately bounced back, but Hornets got the edge again when Faraz Akhtar hit a fine pass to Cassels, who in turn threaded the ball through to Symmonds to score in a one-on-one with the keeper.

Hornets looked like they were on the route to victory when they made it 3-1, as Clifton expertly beat several players on the right of the box before passing to Cassels to slot home his second.

But the celebrations proved premature as Central picked up the pressure and rocked Hornets with four straight goals to open up a 5-3 lead.

Clifton made it 5-4 with a trademark dash through the defence before shooting past the keeper, but the Hornets' fightback fell agonisingly short.
