Sponsored Penalty Shoot-Out !

As detailed in the last news letter the Club held the annual subs fee for another year this year in recognition of the challenging financial times, however costs of replacement team strips, pitch hire, referee fees etc continue to rise. Also with the loss of a couple of squads this season we have less income coming into the Club, so it does mean we are under financial pressure to meet all our desired objectives.

As a means to help raise funds to cover the items above and provide trophies etc at the end of the season we are going to hold a fun penalty shoot-out on the last training session before Christmas on Thursday 17th Dec. Each boy will take 10 penalties with a prize for the highest score and another for the boy who raises the most sponsorship.

Our target as a team is to try and raise in total £200. A sponsorship form has been given to each boy and we hope you can do your best to help raise funds, which in turn supports the team.

Goal Keepers Wanted - Grown ups are welcome to join us on the night and take a spell in goal to give the boys an added incentive to score. We'll have a little light refreshment afterwards in Stafferton Lodge for those who need help recovering!

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
