Boyne Hill were playing their last ever league match against top of the table Shiplake.

Hill were quickly into their quick pA*Sing game, but a combination of bumpy pitch and poor finishing meant they could not convert their possession into goals.

They then found themselves a goal down mid way through the first half when Shiplake struck home from 25 yards.

Shiplake then started to apply further pressure. A break through was thwarted by an excellent tackle from Dan Molloy, only to see the ball end up with a Shiplake forward. His deflected shot gave keeper Danny Varsalona no chance and the Hill were two down at the break.

Shiplake came out strongly in the second half and had it not been for three excellent saves by Varsalona, the game would have been over.

Hill survived the early onslaught and gradually started to impose themselves on the game again. Their efforts were rewarded when Norbert Avery cracked home a left foot shot from the edge of the box.

They were soon back on level terms, when Siwi Krasaetho finished off a fine move and cross from Jack Galloway.

The Hill had further chances to get the winner they deserved, but unfortunately it just did not come.

Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
